Mini-Workshop
Mini-Workshop
Spend three hours learning a little about the leather you will be using, having a go with some of the tools that are used by leatherworkers, and making a small item to take away with you.
You will make a small project such as a set of buttons, a key fob or a couple of coasters. If jewellery is something you are interested in making, how about a simple wristband, a pendant or a pair of earrings?
The workshop includes
· A little bit of history and a little bit about leather you will be using, its tanning processes, its uses, and its characteristics.
Use of templates, tools and relevant fixed equipment in the studio
· Leather, dyes, threads, snaps etc. for a small project (up to approximately one square foot of leather)
During your workshop, you will learn a number of leatherworking processes including:
· choosing a design for a small project and planning its embellishment
· cutting leather using a template or the press
· using tools to transfer and work your design into the leather
· applying colour
· finishing your project
Tea and coffee are available
We can arrange the workshop to run at a time that is mutually suitable.
